What's so great about Yutaka Hirose?

Anyone who's watched the villains played by the Toku actor Yutaka Hirose are likely to say he's nothing but awesome. Why? Cause he's awesome. =P   Okay, what's really special about Yutaka Hirose and his characters? What do people like about them?

For starters, Hirose's characters are always getting into rivalries. Us fans love rivalries. Especially if they are all the more intense and epic of course. There was Wanda vs Jin, Kemp vs Yuusuke, Tranza vs Ryu, and Jin vs Ryou. Hirose's characters often loved to harass these Reds and to make fools out of them. Now that's what a villain does to make you love to hate him. =D  And on top of that, Hirose knows how to do his own stunts!

Some villains really do their job as a villain really well, if they're pissed. Yutaka Hirose really knows how to play a pissed off villain. It truly makes his characters seem all the more dangerous and that they truly mean business, and that failure of any sort is not an option for them. Oh, and one of my favorite quotes from Wanda being pissed:

KURAAAAAAAAAGGGGGEEEEEENNNNNN!!!!!!  xP

Some villains are such scum that they go so far to commit such evil deeds to the point where one might think it's crazy to even think they could be redeemed. Hirose's villains, Kemp, Wanda, and Tranza commit several crimes that could pretty much classify as unforgivable. And what's even worse is that these villains laugh at the fact that they commit such evil deeds and take pride in them, which is just sick. And that's also exactly why we love these villains. LOL.

Finally, there's the fact that Hirose can truly act. He plays as four different characters, and manages to differentiate them all. While all of these villains have similar traits to represent that they are a "Hirose Villain" (rivalries, pissed off villain, really cruel, etc), there are some key differences about each of them. For Wanda, Hirose plays himself the role of an elite warrior, serving an empire that's bent on world domination and creating the ultimate lifeforms, while also coping with the fact that he's made up of four lesser species. Kemp plays the role of a former classmate of the heroes and has an intense drive to rid himself of his humanity in order to be "superior" to all humans. Tranza plays the role of an emperor who has hogged all the power from the Vyram and just loves to torture and play childish tricks on all the heroes and the villains and enjoys it a lot. And finally, Jin plays the role which pretty much has elements of his previous three roles with an anti-hero mix (him turning good in the end was a neat twist). So overall, Hirose is able to tap the full potential of each character and the positions they are in, and to just let his own unique magical talents flow into them.

  1. It's a pity that he ended up disillusioned with the current actors these days. But I gotta say, if there's a Legendary actor for villains in Super Sentai genre, Yutaka Hirose is DEFINITELY that legend.

    All solid villains he played.
